Sustainable Coffee Roasting
At Beachcomber Coffee Company we use a clean air artisan roasting process that is a proprietary method of roasting coffee. Our coffee is roasted in small batches (20lbs) to ensure a consistent coffee is produced with each batch of Beachcomber Coffee! Did you know that traditional methods of coffee roasting are a significant source of air pollution and allergens? Even with the use of an afterburner, traditional drum roasters give off significant airborne particulates (allergens), volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and greenhouse gases such as carbon, methane and nitrous oxide are released into the atmosphere.
The heat source of our proprietary roasting process is electric which means there are no hydrocarbons produced at the point of roasting, which is great for our environment. The roaster itself is a patented closed-loop hybrid roaster that combines the best characteristics of both drum and air roasting methods. Using the even heating famous in air roasting (fluid bed roasting) and capturing some of the aromatics found in drum roasting, the patented design allows for a clean full-flavoured cup every time.
